The Making of Drop 01

Nothing begins with us.

Cotton existed before the maison. Silk existed before the hand that wove it. We do not claim credit for creation itself — only for the discipline with which we were permitted to shape what was already here.

What follows is an account of that process: how Drop 01 is made, and why the method carries more weight than any word written about it.

Material and Intention

Every garment begins before the first stitch — with the material itself, and whether it is equal to what is being asked of it.

Drop 01 is built on heavyweight cotton selected for its weight, structure, and role within the garment. Each hood is lined in deep red Egyptian silk — the contrast between the outer cotton and that hidden interior is the signature of the maison, present in every colourway, discovered only once the piece is worn.

Drop 01 is offered in two colourways, Onyx and Bone. Neither is a variation of lesser standing; each is a complete expression of the same construction.

We do not source at volume. Each textile is chosen for its role in a specific piece — the question is never whether it is available, but whether it is correct.

Physical Production

Drop 01 is crafted in Italy by a master tailor with five decades of experience.

The collection centres on two silhouettes: the unisex hoodie and the women's crop top, each offered in Onyx and Bone. Each piece carries a JEEYODEE neck label marked MADE IN ITALY. Selected Thorns Edition pieces carry hand-set Italian cone studs, positioned across the hood and sleeves. Each Thorns Edition piece is individually numbered within the finite Drop 01 production run.

Limited production is what allows this. Fewer pieces means each one can be carried from first material choice to final detail without compromise.

Design and Construction

The design language of Drop 01 was set before production began, and it has not changed for convenience.

Across the back of the garment runs the maison's own words, embroidered as MAKE MONEY / NOT FRIENDS and FEAR GOD NOT MAN. It is not a slogan added after the fact — it is part of the garment's construction from the point of design. The Thorns hardware on those pieces carries the same logic: positioned with intention across the hood and sleeves, not applied as ornament.

The unisex hoodie is cut with a fuller silhouette and a kangaroo pocket. The women's crop top is a slimmer, cropped construction — finished just below the bust with a body-hugging hem. Both carry the same hood construction and the same deep red silk lining, whichever colourway is chosen.

The garment is what it was designed to be, or it is not made.

Controlled Bespoke Customisation

For those who commission a piece directly, JEEYODEE offers a controlled bespoke option — personal direction within the maison's existing design language, not open-ended custom design.

A commission allows a choice of cotton colour, the silk that lines the hood, and the treatment of the back wordmark — including a muted, tonal option that embroiders the wordmark in the same tone as the cotton itself, present but only found by those who look closely. On the regular silhouette, which carries the kangaroo pocket, that pocket may be removed or adjusted to commission; the crop silhouette carries no pocket by design, and this remains unchanged in bespoke. On Thorns commissions, the Thorns hardware is set to match the exact colour of the chosen fabric.

A 50% refundable deposit begins the bespoke commission process. Final specifications are confirmed privately before production proceeds. Each accepted commission is produced and numbered individually according to its approved specification.

Limited Release Philosophy

Each Drop is deliberately finite. Once its production run is complete, it is permanently retired and never reproduced.

Drop 01 is a permanently limited release. Thorns Edition pieces are individually numbered and never reproduced, and once a Drop's run is complete, it is not repeated. The number of pieces in any Drop is set by the time, precision, and craftsmanship required to bring every garment to the maison's standard — not by demand, and not after the fact.

Gratitude, Creation, and Responsibility

We are aware of what goes into making something well: the knowledge required to develop it, and the traditions that informed the materials long before JEEYODEE existed. Cotton, silk, hardware — none of it originated with us. It is borrowed, entrusted, and, in time, returned. God, the Ultimate Creator, held all of it before any human hand shaped it into anything.

Our responsibility is to work with discipline, care, and gratitude for the opportunity to do so at all.

Before the garment came the material. Before the material came the earth. We take credit only for the care with which we were permitted to shape it.
